How to Make a Multiplayer Browser Game With AI
Rooms, invite links, turn-based challenges and real game servers. What multiplayer on Remix gives you, and how to ask an AI agent to build it.
The hard part of a multiplayer game was never the game. It was everything around it: matchmaking, invites, connections, a server to settle arguments about who scored. An AI agent can write a good game loop in minutes and then spend your whole weekend on networking.
On Remix the platform does the networking. You describe how players meet and what they do together, and the agent builds the game on top of rooms Remix already runs.
Pick the Kind of Multiplayer First
Before you prompt, decide which of these your game is. It changes what the agent builds.
Turn-based challenges. Players take turns on a shared game state, and Remix notifies whoever is up. Good for word games, board games and anything where a move can wait an hour. Challenges run in the Remix apps for iOS and Android and on remix.gg.
Real-time rooms. Up to 12 players play live together. Remix handles the room, the invite link and the connections between players. Friends join from a shared link.
Game servers. For games that need a referee nobody can cheat, a world that keeps running, or more players. Remix hosts one server per room, so the game, not a player's device, decides who scored. A room can hold up to 256 players. Games in Remix Desktop add one by picking Dedicated Servers from the plus menu in the composer.
A Real Example
Strike Arena by cryptomantis is four-a-side arcade football with eight captains and screen-shaking Hyper Strikes. You can play the CPU, or challenge a friend online one on one, on a computer or a phone.
Write the Brief Around the Players
Tell the agent who plays, how they find each other and when the match ends. For example:
Make a real-time multiplayer game for 2 to 4 players. Each player steers a bumper car in a small arena and scores by knocking others off the edge. Players join from an invite link. First to 5 points wins, then show everyone's score and offer a rematch. Use simple shapes first so I can test the controls.
Then test it the way players will. Open the invite on a second device, join mid-match, leave and come back. Fix how the match feels with two people before you ask for power-ups, maps or cosmetics.
Publish and Get Players
Publishing gives your game a page on remix.gg, a place in the Remix apps and an AI trailer recorded from real gameplay. Games can also open public rooms, which show up under Live Games with the player count and your ping, so strangers can drop into a match already in progress.
Making a game takes a Remix plan. If you write code yourself, the multiplayer reference covers the SDK calls for challenges, rooms and servers. Otherwise, describe your game and let the agent wire it up.
