How to Mix Two Games Into One With AI
Snake, but it's a train. Football, but with super moves. Here is how to describe a game mashup so an AI builds the version you actually pictured.
Most good game ideas are two games you already know, glued together. A shooter where your bullets paint the floor. Football where every captain has a fighting-game finisher. The fun is in the seam between them.
You don't need to code to try one. On Remix you describe the mashup in a sentence, an AI agent builds it, and you play it a few minutes later.
Name Both Games, Then the Rule That Joins Them
"Mix Tetris and Flappy Bird" is a weak prompt. The AI has to guess which parts of each game you meant, and it usually guesses the obvious ones.
Name the two games, then the single rule that connects them:
Flappy Bird, but every pipe you pass drops a Tetris piece at the bottom of the screen. Clear a line to slow the pipes down.
That one rule tells the agent what the player does, what the second game adds and why the two halves matter to each other. Our create screen asks for the same three things: a game it's like, an art style and one core mechanic.
Two Mashups Worth Playing
These two staff picks show how far one joining rule can carry a game.
Ink Rush is a shooter crossed with a painting game. Every shot covers the ground in your team's color, and the winner is whoever painted the most map, not whoever scored the most hits. Strike Arena is four-a-side football crossed with a fighting game: pick one of eight captains, each with a signature skill and a Hyper Strike that can summon a black hole or call down a meteor.
Neither is "game A plus game B." Each takes one rule from the second game and lets it change how the first one is won.
Build It, Then Change One Thing at a Time
- Go to remix.gg/create, or tap Create a Game in the Remix app.
- Pick Arcade (one run, one high score) or Levels (numbered stages with saved progress).
- Type your mashup in a sentence or two, or use the mic and say it.
- Play the first build. If the seam between the two games feels wrong, fix that before you ask for art, sound or a boss.
- Ask for one change at a time ("make the pipes slower when a line clears") so you can tell which change helped.
When it's ready, publish it. Your game gets its own page on remix.gg, plays in the Remix apps for iOS and Android, and gets an AI trailer recorded from real gameplay.
Ideas to Start From
- Snake, but the snake is a train picking up passengers at stations.
- Pong, but each paddle is a goalkeeper and the ball speeds up after every save.
- A cooking game, but orders arrive like falling Tetris blocks.
- Whack-a-mole, but the moles are notes and you have to hit them on the beat.
Making a game takes a Remix plan. Playing every game on Remix is free. Pick the two games you can't stop thinking about and start your mashup.
